Zombieland: Double Tap Rated R for bloody violence, sexual content & more

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It was just the other day that we shared an all-new featurette (check it out below if you missed it) for VEMON and GANGSTER SQUAD director Ruben Fleischer's ZOMBIELAND 2: DOUBLE TAP starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin. And today we have word via the MPAA that the sequel has been rated R for

bloody violence, language throughout, some drug and sexual content.

For those of you keeping score at home, the original ZOMBIELAND was also rated R for "horror violence/gore and language." So it looks like the powers that be behind the scenes are adding in some sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll this time around. Sounds good to me!

The post-apocalyptic zombie comedy is written by original ZOMBIELAND and DEADPOOL scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese and centers on

The comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland. The zombie slayers must face off against the many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. Most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.

Original ZOMBIELAND director Ruben Fleischer returns to helm and is re-teaming with original writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese (DEADPOOL 2). Gavin Polone produces and Reese and Wernick will also executive produce. Lauren Abrahams will oversee the project for the studio. The sequel is already in production for release on October 18, 2019 –- the 10th anniversary of the first film. You can snag a copy of the original on Blu-ray HERE.
