A very long time ago, we informed you guys of another “Of The Dead” zombie opus entitled ZONE OF THE DEAD. Yes, some of you may be thinking “Anther f*cking ‘Of The Dead’ flick?! What the hell?!” and believe me, I understand. However, let me try to steer your thoughts away from the negative with some cool, killer details.
First off, I’m really down with the lead casting. We get an interestingly dynamic duo of Mr. Ken Foree (below), who hasn’t truly battled the undead since the original DAWN OF THE DEAD, and Ms. Kristina Klebe (below) who faced a grisly demise in Rob Zombies remake of HALLOWEEN (as did Foree). Now have a look at who’ll they’ll be playing through ZONE’s plot synopsis:
A police-escorted prisoner transport supervised by Interpol sets off to Belgrade. The route leads the transport through Pancevo, where they encounter an ecological disaster and infected people who are trying to kill them. Interpol agents Mortimer Reyes (Ken Foree) and Mina Milius (Kristina Klebe) soon realize that their only chance for escape from the zombie hordes lies in allying with the dangerous, mysterious prisoner.
Not too shabby. I’m a huge fan of zombie flicks that show a little personality and I think with ZONE’s synopsis as well as Foree and Klebe, this may be one to look out for. It is currently in postproduction for directors Milan Konjevic and Milan Todorovic. The rest of the cast includes Emilio Roso (as the “prisoner”), Miodrag Krstovic, and Vukota Brajovic.
