Child’s Play remake snags release date & teaser poster

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

For those of you out there that might not know, today is Veterans Day and so as you might imagine, it' been a slow news day around these parts. Minus, of course, the passing of Mr. Stan Lee. RIP. But that doesn't mean there isn't anything happening in the world of horror as today we have word via Variety that the upcoming CHILD'S PLAY remake has snagged a release date AND a new teaser poster.

Along with Sony's upcoming reboot GRUDGE, this remake will be hitting screens in June 2019. This date seems to have been very cleverly chosen as is at the same date that (go figure) another group of toys is all set to run amok, Disney and Pixar's TOY STORY 4. Coincidence? I think not…You can check out the creepy poster below and then make sure to hit us up and let us know if you're interested in seeing this new take on CHILD'S PLAY below!

Orion Pictures' reboot stars Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, and Gabriel Bateman. The official synopsis reads:

Child’s Play follows a mother (Plaza) who gives her son (Bateman) a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.

The remake is directed by Lars Klevberg (POLAROID) from a screenplay written by KUNG FURY 2 writer Tyler Burton Smith with STEPHEN KING'S IT producers David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith producing. Aaron Schmidt and Chris Ferguson executive produced. Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio, and Carlease Burke co-star. CHILD'S PLAY stalks and slashes its tiny terrifying ass into your local multiplex come June 21, 2019.
