No CGI for Peter Dinklage in X-Men: Days of Future Past according to Bryan Singer

Dinklage and Singer

Will someone please just tell us who the hell Peter Dinklage is playing in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST? When it was first revealed that he had signed on to the film many people speculated he would be playing Puck from Alpha Flight. That was debunked when it was reported Dinklage would be playing the main antagonist, and a lot of us then assumed he’d be playing a CGI heavy character.

Not true, says Bryan Singer. IGN spoke with the director, and he revealed that whoever Peter Dinklage is playing isn’t a character that needs CGI:

He’s not going to be a CGI characte. He’ll be himself. Not that he’ll be playing Peter Dinklage, he’ll be playing this character. It’s not a shy character. He’s just such a phenomenal actor; I’m a huge fan of Peter’s and Game of Thrones. He was my first choice and I was really happy [about the casting]. It’s so funny to talk to him because he does that impeccable accent [on Game of Thrones] and then you talk to him and he’s this guy from New Jersey.

Singer also goes on to say that he is currently negotiating with an actor for a role in the flick and that there are still roles left to be cast for “younger” characters, so more news could be coming very quickly.

While there’s a chance that Peter Dinklage could be playing a completely new orginal character for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, I think he will end up playing someone from the comics. MODOK has been a popular choice but I don’t believe 20th Century Fox has the rights to the character, and MODOK has primarily battled The Avengers. As far as what “younger characters” we might see? Storm? Jean Grey? Lets brainstorm in the Strikeback, boys and girls.
