Spike Lee’s Olboy with Josh Brolin, Sharlto Copley, and Elizabeth Olsen gets a green band trailer

A new green band trailer has dropped for Spike Lee's OLDBOY, which is nearly the exact same trailer as the red band one, minus the blood, boobs, and booty shots. So, yeah, it's the watered-down-whiskey version. That doesn't mean the film looks any less interesting, but for my money the aforementioned attributes help to sell it a hell of a lot better. Starring Josh Brolin, Sharlto Copley, Elizabeth Olsen, and Samuel L. Jackson, this new version of OLDBOY looks like a lot of fun, even if it has to contend with the brilliant version by Park Chan-wook. Both are based on the original graphic novel of the same name, but it's unclear which adaptation will be the most faithful (or successful) at this juncture.

Take a gander:

Brolin, for his part, seems to have a certain "perspective" on the finished film, which he expressed to the L.A. Times, which paints a portrait of the film being "tinkered" to fit an audience.

"‘I do have opinions, but it’s better to bite my tongue,’ he said when asked what he thought of the finished film. (The actor says he was more enamored with Lee’s earlier three-hour director’s cut that was both quieter and filled with more character-centric moments.)"

My curiosity is higher than my anticipation for OLDBOY. Having seen a large portion of the infamous "hallway scene" I think that watching Brolin chew through the movie is enough incentive to see it. And, although Brolin may prefer a 3-hour version of OLDBOY, I'm not sure that means we should have one. Personally, I don't need a 3-hour Spike Lee joint.

OLDBOY opens on November 27, 2013.
