UPDATE: Guess what? Will Arnett is not playing Splinter, but Danny Woodburn (SEINFELD, WATCHMEN, MIRROR, MIRROR) is! I love Woodburn, but what do you guys think of the casting? Did you have someone else in mind? Or do you think that Woodburn is a great choice? The live-action/CG hybrid is due out June 6, 2014.

Let’s be honest: There are many fans of TMNT that are quite skeptical of what they’ve heard about Jonathan Liebesman and Michael Bay‘s NINJA TURTLES. Sure, Megan Fox is hot and has a cute personality. Then there’s the whole “dark and gritty” aspect…okay whatever, that’s the take that everyone is going with these days. The Michael Bay factor? He told us to chill out, so should we?

Now one of the turtles, the new Raphael (Alan Ritchson), to be exact is speaking out on his onset experience and why the fans are wrong in their assumptions about what is in-store:

“The frustrating thing for me since I’ve signed on is that you hear that it’s already got a reputation. I think people assume they know what it’s going to be about, and those people are wrong. The assumptions, everything you read online is wrong. You want to tell everybody how great it is, and you can’t really say why, but it is.”

Then the actor talks about the lovely Fox and an action scene between the two:

“We’re running around Manhattan, me and Megan Fox, her looking wonderful and me looking like some kind of ant with cameras all over my face. We’re learning a lot of the fight choreography. We’ve got these unbelievable stunt trainers that work us every day to the bone. It’s been a great process.”
