50/50’s Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Jonathan Levine, and Will Reiser head to Jamaica

Will Reiser (not pictured) will soon have two films based on his own life experiences.

Director Jonathan Levine’s (THE WACKNESS) upcoming Seth Rogen/Joseph Gordon-Levitt cancer comedy 50/50 – based on Reiser’s own personal battle with the disease – will be hitting theaters later this year, and early word is that it’s great. Now, according to Variety, Levine, Reiser, Rogen, and Evan Goldberg (THE GREEN HORNET) will once again be teaming up for a road trip comedy titled JAMAICA.

Reiser, who wrote the screenplay for 50/50, will once again be writing from personal experience, loosely basing the new film on “a vacation he took to Jamaica with his grandmother when he was 14.” Reiser himself adds, “This is a story that I’ve long wanted to tell. It’s something of a passion project for me.”

While admittedly not as intriguing as the man’s experience of beating cancer, I’m sure there’s something worthwhile in there to have this talented bunch back together again. Levine will direct, while Rogen and creative partner Goldberg will produce under their Point Grey Pictures banner.

You can catch this group’s first project, 50/50, when it hits theaters September 30th.
