As has been rumored for quite some time now, Jason Bateman has signed on to join the cast of the upcoming superhero drama TONIGHT, HE COMES. Bateman joins Will Smith and Charlize Theron in the film, which will follow an alcoholic superhero (Smith) who saves a PR exec (Bateman). The man helps him reinvent his image but meanwhile the hero falls in love with his wife (Theron). Sounds like “Heroes” meets “All My Children.” Smith has been trying to get the film off the ground for years and at different times Jonathan Mostow and Gabriele Muccino were in line to direct. Peter Berg (FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS) will now direct starting production this spring. TONIGHT reunites Berg and Bateman who co-star in SMOKIN’ ACES and who worked together as actor/director in the upcoming war drama THE KINGDOM. Bateman can also be seen later this year in MR. MAGORIUM’S WONDER EMPORIUM with Natalie Portman and Dustin Hoffman.
