Last Updated on August 2, 2021

I have a bunch of casting news for you this morning, and we'll start with CRIMINAL since we just recently learned Tommy Lee Jones has joined the project.

Variety is reporting Ryan Reynolds has been cast in CRIMINAL, and he'll star alongside Jones, Kevin Costner and Gary Oldman in the thriller. Ariel Vromen's (THE ICEMAN) new film will follow "a dangerous prison inmate who has a dead CIA operative's memories, secrets and skills implanted into him in hopes he'll stop a diabolical plot" and while there's no word on who Reynolds and Oldman will be playing (we already know Jones will play the doctor who transplants the memories), according to Empire, Kevin Costner will play the inmate.

Next up is Vin Diesel's THE LAST WITCH HUNTER, and THR has learned Elijah Wood has joined Breck Eisner's (SAHARA, THE CRAZIES) supernatural action flick. The film also stars Michael Caine and Game of Thrones' Rose Leslie, and will focus follow "an immortal witch hunter (Diesel) who partners with his natural enemy, a female witch (Leslie), to stop the covens of NYC from unleashing a plague on humanity.” Production on THE LAST WITCH HUNTER should start later this month.

Finally, a ton of actors have joined Viggo Mortensen's CAPTAIN FANTASTIC. It's being reported Steve Zahn, Kathryn Hahn, Missi Pyle and Frank Langella will star in the film, and Erin Moriarty, George MacKay, Annalise Basso, Samantha Isler, Nicholas Hamilton, Shree Crooks and Charlie Shotwell will also appear in the drama.

Synopsis:

Captain Fantastic centers on a passionate father (Viggo Mortensen), who is so devoted to teaching his six children how to live, be free, and survive in the world that he has moved them deep into the forests of the Pacific Northwest. He spends his days teaching them combat skills, training them like professional athletes, homeschooling them in a rigorous classical education, and introducing them to the beauty of the natural world.  However, when he is forced to leave their self-created paradise and confront the real world, he begins a journey that challenges his unorthodox parenting.
