Crank 2 official

The loopy action flick CRANK had so much insane velocity it practically made it into orbit. And now filmmakers Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor are gonna try to knock it out of the solar system with a sequel.

Yep, it's official: CRANK 2: HIGH VOLTAGE is in the works. Jason Statham will again play hyper hitman Chev Chelios (somehow) in the follow-up. And now what could they possibly have planned for the resilient high-speed hired gun? The only info given so far (aside from the fact that it'll attempt to push things even further over-the-top, inconceivable though that may seem) is that Chev "faces a Chinese mobster who has stolen his nearly indestructible heart and replaced it with a battery-powered ticker that requires regular jolts of electricity to keep working."

Sure, whatever -- it doesn't sound any more wonderfully ludicrous than the first one, so I'm in. Statham apparently loved the pitch so much he made sure his pre-strike schedule was clear for the project, which Neveldine/Taylor will shoot right after their tech thriller GAME with Gerard Butler. No word on whether Amy Smart or Dr. Yoakam will be back for the sequel, but if Statham's character made it, anything is possible.
Extra Tidbit: Somehow, CRANK does not feature any explosions. Just millions of rounds of ammunition.
