For readers who still doubted that they would ever see a DEADPOOL movie, even after Ryan Reynolds finalized a deal to star, here is some more proof that it's happening at last; the production is now heading to Ryan Reynolds’ hometown. The movie picked up steam after years of slow development, likely due to the success of another risky venture known as GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. The risks here, if they are to keep to the source material of course, would include the fact that lead characters face (pretty man Reynolds) would have his face covered most of the time, so the hopes of marketing said face to another type of audience might prove difficult. The character also tends to break the fourth wall a lot of talk to us directly, which is awesome and new for a superhero movie.

DEADPOOL is set to start filming in Vancouver in late March of this year. That would be Reynolds’ hometown and a popular spot for a lot of Fox’s films including X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. There are few more questions still unanswered as the movie gears up production like whether or not it will be PG-13 or an R-rated superhero movie. Will we get PG 13 in theaters and R on Blu-ray? My money would be on that scenario, why be bold when you can try and reach a wider audience?

Will people show up for DEADPOOL? I hope so, he’s an incredibly cool and different character from what we’re used to and deserves his time in the spotlight. Recently T.J. Miller (Silicon Valley, TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION) and Ed Skrein (Game of Thrones) were said to be in talks to join the cast. We will keep you posted on any and all developments. Visual effects guru Tim Miller is set to direct DEADPOOL with a release date of February 12, 2016.
