Disney and Marvel's voice cast for animated movie Big Hero 6 revealed

04.29.2014by:

Disney's first foray in an animated film using Marvel characters is due later this year and we have yet to hear any casting announcements...until today. The top secret cast leaked out via multiple outlets and, in keeping with Marvel tradition, has yet to be fully confirmed. But, we now can reveal that Maya Rudolph, T.J. Miller, and Jamie Chung have joined the cast of BIG HERO 6.

Very little has been revealed regarding BIG HERO 6 by Disney outside of some concept art and a brief clip of footage that doesn't showcase any characters. We did get a plot synopsis that does keep in line with what is known about the obscure comic title.

BIG HERO 6 is a comedic action-adventure movie about brilliant robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo. With the help of his closest companion a robot named Baymax Hiro joins forces with a reluctant team of first-time crime fighters on a mission to save their city.

With the big news surrounding CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY as well as next year's ANT-MAN and AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, it seems odd that we have heard next to nothing about BIG HERO 6. Seeing as the animated film is coming from Disney versus Marvel Studios, it should be safe to assume that BIG HERO 6 will not be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but you never know. Maya Rudolph has done a good amount of voice work in films like THE NUT JOB and TURBO while T.J. Miller has lent his talents to the HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON films. At this point, Rudolph's role is unknown but Miller will voice Fredzilla and Chung will play GoGo Tomago. No word on who will play the lead of Hiro Hamada.

BIG HERO 6 is slated to hit theaters on November 7, 2014.

Sunfire was in Giant Sized X-Men #1

Marvel can't use him for live action movies or TV.

Note that Marvel could do X-Men Evolution and put it on the WB. No problem there.

Looking forward to it. I don't think Disney can use the X-Men, Spider-Man or the FF in an animated film with a theatrical release, just direct to DVD or on TV like Ultimate Spider-Man. Also don't think they would use any Avengers characters because that would just confuse with the live action movies. So I think we're stuck with Marvel's obscure stuff like this.

This sounds like a really fun, cool film. Huge fan of TJ Miller. The guy is hysterical.

These characters with the talent at hand in Disney, Marvel and Pixar right now, could be epic. I'm imagining something part Incredibles, part Avengers, and part Tekkon Kinkrete.

I think this is Disney trying to create their own property for Marvel that appeals mostly to kids. Considering Disney's history with animation, I trust them to do this right. Especially since they have Marvel support in creating the film. I am just going to assume good things will come from this and give the benefit of the doubt.

How dare Disney work on a cool idea that could turn into a movie that has some joy and heart in it? They should recycle another ancient fairy tale, or work on the long-awaited LION KING 6: SIMBA GETS OLD.
