I recently saw a new commercial for DRILLBIT TAYLOR where the focus has been shifted from Owen Wilson to the three nerdy, SUPERBADian kids he's trying to protect. I thought this was a pretty smart move by Paramount marketing considering a) the success of SUPERBAD and b) that it will attract a much younger audience than an Owen Wilson marketed comedy would. DRILLBIT opens on March 21st and is just the beginning of an Apatow onslaught that will last through the rest of the summer (FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, STEP BROTHERS, PINEAPPLE EXPRESS). In addition to Wilson, DRILLBIT stars the insanely funny Danny McBride and Ms. Apatow herself, Leslie Mann. I saw a screening of Drillbit Taylor and although it does skew much younger i actually liked it BETTER than Superbad.
but they are fairly identical. They even have their own McLovin.
