Fiery Latin dude Edgar Ramirez offered the part of Ares in Wrath of the Titans

It looks like Mount Olympus wants in on some hot Latin action. Deadline is reporting that Venezuelan-born actor Edgar Ramirez (CARLOS, THE ARGENTINE a.k.a. CHE: PART ONE) is up for the role of ‘Ares’ in director Jonathan Liebesman’s upcoming WRATH OF THE TITANS.

Deadline says Ramirez has been offered the part of the God of War and that he’s “on the verge of making a deal to star.” The CLASH OF THE TITANS follow-up will see the return of Sam Worthington, Gemma Arterton, Ralph Fiennes, and Liam Neeson. Other than that, we know next to nothing about the sequel, though Sam Worthington is hoping it’ll be better than the first. I hope so, too.

Ramirez has been around for some time now, featured in some small but pretty cool roles (THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM, DOMINO). His real breakout, however, came just recently, playing terrorist/freedom fighter Carlos the Jackal in the five+ hour biopic CARLOS. Ramirez’s performance garnered nods from both the Golden Globes and SAG.

WRATH OF THE TITANS is scheduled for release on March 30, 2012.
