First trailer for David Ayer's Sabotage starring Schwarzenegger looks like a real hoot

Nov. 22, 2013by: Paul Shirey

Arnold Schwarzenegger continues his journey back into the good graces of action fandom with his next entry, SABOTAGE, and it may be just the vehicle to get him over the hump. Directed by David Ayer, who is known for his gritty, violent style with such films as HARSH TIMES, STREET KINGS, and END OF WATCH, the film has a nice ensemble cast to plus up Arnold's considerable clout, including Joe Manganiello, Sam Worthington, Terrence Howard, Olivia Williams, Max Martini, Josh Holloway, and Mireille Enos. There's plenty of gunfire and shit talk abound, so settle in and let the sparks fly.

Don't blow your balls off:

Here's the synopsis:

In "Sabotage", Arnold Schwarzenegger leads an elite DEA task force that takes on the world's deadliest drug cartels. When the team successfully executes a high-stakes raid on a cartel safe house, they think their work is done - until, one-by-one, the team members mysteriously start to be eliminated. As the body count rises, everyone is a suspect.

Y'know, this just looks like a good damn time. Yeah, it's got a lot of silly-sounding dialogue and standard set-up, but I'm in this for Ayer's hard-edged characters and some brutal ultraviolence with Arnold and company. I think it was a smart choice for the aging action star and there's a lot of room for him to loosen up a bit and get back to the old-school RAW DEAL/COMMANDO days with this. Hopefully, it will end with him rescuing his family and flying away in a seaplane with rock music playing underneath. One can hope.

SABOTAGE starts blowing shit up on April 11, 2014.

He just doesn't look BADASS anymore............

Arnold was never a great actor but his physical onscreen presence is what gave him a pass. I love Arnold, shit T2, Predator, True Lies they all shaped my childhood, but watching him is like seeing a 70 year supermodel still try and walk down the runway. You are not and action star anymore, and all your doing now is damaging your legacy with crap. Your torch has been passed to The Rock now. Its a shame too, this movie looks like it could be awesome if you replace Arnold with anyone else.

Looks good, but I miss the old days when I didn't have to turn a trailer off early to avoid seeing too much.

Utter crap

Wow, this just looks horrible. Arnold needs to either stay retired or stop trying to be a "serious" action star. He never was one in the first place. He was only good in the movies that had a bit of humor mixed in and this looks like a point A to B film with nothing but cliche set pieces and a horrible story. This will be the worst movie of the year.

Cool

Cool trailer but did anyone else think that it may have given too much away. It kinda made it seem like terence howard was the villain on the team. Hope im wrong but if this movie was gonna be one about who dunnit I would have rather have found out when I watched the movie.

Now THIS is his comeback role!

This movie looks unbelievably bad ass and like the old school, over the top, violent action film that Arnold should be in! That trailer was better than anything Arnold has done since coming back to Hollywood and I bet there is no CG blood in a David Ayers action flick!

Looks badass and old school. Arnold looks more comfortable here than he did in The Last Stand, which was okay but a tiny bit awkward.

The line, "Tell John to come for you" cannot be a coincidence.

Cool trailer, written by Skip Woods though...but we'll hope for the best.

Looks like a mans, mans action movie. seriously even the chick reminds me of something out of a Katheryn Bigalow flick (Yes I get the irony of that statement). seriously these look like hardened characters that really have been living this life for sometime. I'm excited for the David Ayer but its also co-written by Skip Woods (the genius who gave us the last Die Hard and the third X-Men) so I'll reserve judgement for latter.

Looks entertaining. I'm enjoying Arnold's comeback, but still waiting for that film that really recaptures the entertainment we got from his classics. I know the dude is older now, but he's still an entertaining guy. It just seems like the films he's been doing as his comeback movies are playing it safer than they could. Hopefully this is a step up. I like David Ayers work, so hopefully this is a good match for Arnold.

Dry hump? Seriously? Arnold just did the last Stand which was really good and the Expendables 2 and Escape Plan. Not a bad dry hump for a guy who was out of movies for 5 years while he was governor. Arnold can do no wrong.

And I love the supporting cast for this. And it's kind of ironic how Terrance Howard is talking about money in one his scenes in the trailer.

Love David Ayer gritty films of police work, and with the addition of Arnie to this, I'm definitely interested.

Awesome

Now this is the kind of transition that Arnie needed for modern cinema. Not the tongue in cheek crap Expendables.

They should have named his character Dutch.

Is it me, or does Arnold seem to get younger as the trailer progresses?

This looks like another kick ass Schwarzenegger film. Good to see him playing a badass character again instead of just being a retro wink at the audience.

Interesting....

I have to say, I think that might be the first time I have ever seen Arnold in a business suit in a movie. Trailer looks good, I'm a sucker for Arnie

He wore a suit in Twins and Kindergarten Cop he wore a sport coat and slacks, pretty close to a suit. If I can dig it out of the recesses of my mind, he wore a suit in Jingle All the Way as well but I have pretty much blocked that movie out of my memory for the most part.
