Great Control trailer

Any trailer (or clip) can be severely enhanced when set to a song like Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart, but when the trailer is about the troubled man who wrote it, there is an added resonance. CONTROL tells the story of Ian Curtis, who created a new style of music as the frontman of Joy Division, and who committed suicide at the age of 24 on the eve of the band’s first U.S. tour. I hadn’t heard of this film until today, but it was a success at Cannes, and that’s good enough for me! But seriously, the black and white trailer looks stunning, and like I said, it certainly doesn’t hurt when you have that kind of soundtrack backing you up. This is the first film from Anton Corbijn, a life-long Joy Division fan, and director of music videos for the likes of U2 and Nirvana. The film will have a limited release stateside on October 10th and you can view the trailer HERE.
