Happy Feet 2 coming

When HAPPY FEET surprised audiences in 1996 and wound up bringing in just shy of $200 million and won an Oscar for Best Animated Film, you knew a sequel was happening. I’m just surprised it took this long to really get it mobilized. But Elijah Wood and Robin Williams have officially signed on to reprise their voice roles from the first film in the upcoming sequel.

George Miller, who is also busy prepping FURY ROAD, will again direct the animated film and the actors are headed to Australia in January to begin recording their voices. It’s unclear whether Hugh Jackman and/or Nicole Kidman will return in any capacity (and I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that Brittany Murphy won’t be back…). Because it seems to be the cool thing to do these days, the plot is being kept under wraps. But expect it to involve a fair amount of penguin singing and dancing.
