Well, after riding the Judd Apatow gravy train straight on to the A-list, it looks like Katherine Heigl has jumped straight off of it, since in an act of incredible ungratefulness, she has slammed KNOCKED UP as being "a little sexist. It paints the women as shrews, as humorless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys. It exaggerated the characters, and I had a hard time with it, on some days. I’m playing such a bitch; why is she being such a killjoy? Why is this how you’re portraying women? Ninety-eight percent of the time it was an amazing experience, but it was hard for me to love the movie." Way to say thanks to the guy that made her a f*cking star! Didn't she read the script before she signed on, or did she take the role purely for the money/career furthering and just suck it up? Because I have to assume that when she agreed to starring in the movie, the characters were probably already like that. And was her character really such a bitch? Because I didn't really think so, I just think that Seth Rogen is just a million times more likable than she is. I guess that stands in the way of 'lov(ing) the movie', even when it is the first movie that she has made that hasn't been an enormous turd. I mean, say what you will about BRIDE OF CHUCKY and UNDER SIEGE 2: DARK TERRITORY, at least they didn't exaggerate characters.

Thank god she's taking the $6,000,000 fee she now earns thanks to KNOCKED UP (up from $300,000) to do respectable, pro-female films like 27 DRESSES, where her character has been a bridesmaid 27 times but never a bride, because she's too humorless and uptight to enter a meaningful relationship or confess her love for her boss.

Extra Tidbit: I would put money on KNOCKED UP being the best film that she ever makes.

don't think the film 100 GIRLS in which she starred, was very feminist either, but I guess that was ok since she wasn't as famous back then

Who does she think she is
yea her character wasnt that funny but she really wasnt supposed to be. She was the one in the movie that was supposed to be the emotional center of the movie and the grounded one. I thought she had some funny parts but the rest of the cast was funnier. I thought she had some funny parts but the rest of the cast was funnier. She cant really say that women are portrayed as uptight and humorless because I thought Jody was hilarious in the movie and Leslie Mann stole some scenes from Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen (not easy to do even if her husbands the director). You also have to look at the fact that she was an outsider, the rest of the cast had worked with Judd Appatow and knew what he liked to see and what he thought was funny so that made improvising easier for them than it was for her. I dont know why all of a sudden shes come out and said this, she looked like she was having fun on the DVD special features. Any ways what did she mean that 98% of the time she had a good time and the other two she didnt? Does it mean that 2% was when she realized she had to do work and be serious so they got a shot done? I love the movie no matter what, her not loving it as well as no effect on my feelings of it. I just think its a little shitty saying this now after the movie was such a hit and it being her biggest success of her career. It will end up being her most successful movie. Unless this is one of those crazy things that Judd Appatow likes to do and this is all a prank and she really didnt mean this, they are just jerking our chains once again.

what ever
thats one way to interpret the film. So what if she bags on the film she was honest. Does her not liking the film really effect anything.

this article makes it seem like she owes her career to apatow when grey's anatomy is a gigantic success and has been so for a few years. and i dont think her opinions are that unreasonable, complaining about why your character is so bitchy is true. anyway that movie wasnt all that.

Good point, Heigl, buy maybe you shoulda been more aware of what you were signing up for when it's basically a Judd Apatow flick with the usual crass, sexual humor. Stupid bitch. It's funny when she's talking about how this portrays women as humorless and uptight shrews, when she's perpetuating that stereotype herself. Geez you are one hot momma, but as Ben Stone would best put it, "FUCK YOUR...

Yeah, to some people, the comments below are going overboard. However, I'm jumping ship with the rest of you, if that's the case. Her coming out and saying this is just ignorant, especially when you consider that she's only being courageous and speaking her mind AFTER she's gotten her handout from the movie's grosses. I don't think she should let the script paint all men and women the exact same way as they're portrayed in the film. This is kind of an immature argument. "Why does she have to be a bitch? Why are the guys goofy?" uhh because that's what made the story? Are we just supposed to watch a 2 hour long film of a guy and a girl who get along fine and who just laugh and goof off with each other?...

It's not like Seth Rogen's character beat hers with a rod no bigger than his thumb.

Great on her to just speak her mind and not care what people might think.

And what was sooo wrong with what she said? She said 98% of the time it was an amazing experience, 98%, so only 2% she had this little grudges, big deal.

People are overreacting waaay too much

WTF is this chicks problem!
Seriously? Why is she such a bitch? Why is she such a killjoy. Well don't some actors bring their own personality and style to a character. Could it possibly be...that maybe ol Katherine herself is a bitch? Or maybe the fact that her character is PREGNANT and moody most of the time because once [link] Jesus Christ some people just can't...

Well, good for her-- Knocked Up was terribly overrated (as is anything Apatow does or has his name attached to these days-- Superbad? Give me a break).

Throw this ingrate under the bus!
How's this for sexist, sweatheart, in about ten years you're going to need either a face lift or some fucking glue to hold up those hang-dog cheeks of yours that are developing. So go fucking starve yourself and hope they retain their elasticity. I could only imagine how your much-older-than-30 looking vagina is holding up.

I hope Apatow reads this and drops elephant shits all...

I hope Apatow reads this and drops elephant shits all over your career since he is the new reigning king of comedy. And if the Larry Sanders DVD is any indication, this dude never forgets a fucking grudge.

In five years we'll be seeing you on the new episode of VH1's Charm School. At least we all saw your tits.

If you ever expect me to pay to see your ass in a movie again you better bend over for Fincher, Scorcese or someone else that doesnt do shitty chick movies

Seriously, you don't shit where you eat! This is BS and maybe she should sink to the bottom of the Hollywood Hopeless with this kind of crap talking. Maybe it was taken out of context, or maybe she is just a spoiled rotten little tramp! Anyway, that's all I have to say about that.

What a c word. Not that Judd isn't getting enough good press, but who the F is this lady? She basically just shows that she is her character by being humorless about that situation. It was a comedy was it not?

I still think she was great in Knocked Up, but I agree- She has worked on some more mature films dealing with the female lot in comedy, just look at Bride of Chucky.

I met her at the premiere of The Ringer
She was not only completely humorless in person (not surprising since she had just watched herself sucking in a suck movie), but she looked and dressed like my grandmother - shawl, long dress, and all.
