A lot of emphasis and focus gets put onto how one Marvel film ends and transitions into the greater Cinematic Universe that is out there in the future of their Phases. Very quickly fans turn their attention from the Marvel movie they just watched to the minute or so of a post-credits stinger that's been added on to lure them into the next adventures. And that frenzy is usually fed by people trying to find out what those few very secretive moments might be way in advance, simply because they can't wait.  GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 is sure to be in those crosshairs before the film even knows it, as evidenced by people already wanting to know what's at the tail end of the sequel before it even heads into production.

Case in point... James Gunn was being interactive with his fans on social media as he often does from time to time, taking questions from his Twitter followers on whatever it is they wanted to ask. Someone posed the inquiry as to whether or not GUARDIANS 2's post-credits stinger has already been scripted this far in advance or if it'll be something everyone figures out much later down the road closer to the film's release.

His response...

So someone knows what those moments are going to be, what they'll contain, who'll be in them and what they mean to the larger MCU... It's just not you. Let the games begin on those who will aim to learn that information well before they're intended to.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.

My best bet that the post credits scene will tie into either Thor: Ragnarok (keeping it in the whole space realm) or directly towards Thanos for Infinity Wars.

not always...

they sometimes do two-post credit scenes. one from the director of the movie you just watched (relevant to the movie), then the second one that sets up the next MCU property made by the next director. right? like didn't alan taylor have a problem with james gunn doing the Thor 2 post-credit scene (while he got his own of the monster running around london)? and the second post-credit scene in Ant-Man was clearly taken from Civil War by the Russos.

how do you write a movie?

you start with page 110, then work backwards.
