Johnny Depp has a hat, Meryl Streep has Londonhead in posters for The Rum Diary and The Iron Lady

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

We’ve been patiently waiting to see Johnny Depp return to Hunter S. Thompson’s work in THE RUM DIARY, and the actor is front and center on the new poster. It’s not nearly as creative as the last one, and the title font and palm trees would seem more appropriate for a direct-to-video cop movie from the 80s, but there’s no question that the hatted A-lister is the star.

The synopsis: Paul Kemp (Depp) is a freelance journalist who finds himself at a critical turning point in his life while writing for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean. Paul is challenged on many levels as he tries to carve out a more secure niche for himself amidst a group of lost souls all bent on self-destruction.

Meanwhile, Meryl Streep has city all over her face in the new poster for THE IRON LADY, which is “a surprising and intimate portrait of Margaret Thatcher (Meryl Streep), the first and only female Prime Minister of The United Kingdom. One of the 20th century’s most famous and influential women, Thatcher came from nowhere to smash through barriers of gender and class to be heard in a male dominated world.”

That movie also features Jim Broadbent, Harry Lloyd, Anthony Head, Alexandra Roach, Roger Allam, Richard E. Grant, Susan Brown, Olivia Colman, Nicholas Farrell and Eloise Webb. It arrives on December 16th, and you should expect the Weinsteins to give it the full-court press during award season.
