Knightley’s Last Night

Hollywood “IT” girls come and go like my ex-girlfriend’s venereal diseases. When they’re around, they hit fast and hard. When they dissapate, that’s the last you ever want to hear from them again. Keira Knightley is that venereal disease that just refuses to go away. Her star has been shining bright for some time now, and with THE DUCHESS set for release, shows no signs of fading away.

That being said, Keira “the VD that won’t go away” Knightley tends to gravitate towards period pieces. So when it’s announced that she’ll star in a film set in modern times, I get moderately excited. LAST NIGHT, which co-stars Eva Mendes, Sam Worthington and Guillaume Canet, and which is to be directed by first-time director Massy Tadjedin, will be the first time we get to see Keira in a pair of skinny jeans in quite some time. The story follows a married couple, apart for a night while the husband takes a business trip with a colleague to whom he’s attracted. While he’s resisting temptation, his wife encounters her past love. I’m assuming Keira will play the wife, and Eva will play the woman who tempts. Call it a hunch.
