Liam Neeson joins the cast of Ted 2

09.24.2014

Two weeks ago we told you that Morgan Freeman had joined the cast of TED 2 which is already in production. Now director, writer, and voice star Seth MacFarlane has announced that Liam Neeson has joined the impressive cast for the sequel. MacFarlane previously worked with Neeson on this year's A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST alongside Amanda Seyfried who is also starring as the female lead this time around.

He tweeted the following:

I’m not sure if he’s announcing that he got Neeson for a cameo or that he’s cast him in significant role. I can’t image it’s too complicate for a Macfarlane movie to have him show up on the set for a few hours to get some sweet shots for the trailer, but let's hope it’s more than that. Freeman was recently said to have a large role as a civil rights lawyer who takes Ted on as a client so his role should be plentiful at least.

TED 2 stars also stars Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis and is expected to hit the big screen on June 26, 2015.

Wait a minute, I thought Mila Kunis wasn't coming back for the sequel?

Also, Freeman is playing a civil defense lawyer for Ted? I think I like the sounds of where this plot is headed. I figured it would be a re-hash of the first movie, just with Amanda Syfried in place of Mila Kunis.

Never saw Million Ways to Die since it got a ton of bad reviews, but I really did enjoy Ted. Hopefully Seth can keep the hilarity going in the sequel.

1) Not ALL of his comments are negative.
2) That's why people become JoBlo users: To read all the articles and to comment on as many as possible.

I comment on a whole bunch of these articles too and that's a way to engage with the movie news and to be a part of the community. I don't think there's any need for personal attacks. In fact, I'd say that most people give the Soloist crap for being extremely *positive* and this is a rare negative comment from him. It's certainly a reasonable point of view to have - Ted has 68% on rottentomatoes, meaning that there are some critics who didn't like it.

No, he actually seems to live everything, and often comments in first-third, looks forward to everything, everything is his most anticipated unless it's universally hated. Pay attention to the DVD columns to the range of stuff he gets (buys?). No idea how he has time to watch all that. He has to be a stereotypical young kid.

....he has gotten better, and his opinion and comments have been more "educated"

Liam Neeson phones Ted the bear and says "I don't know what kind of bear you are. But I will find you and I will kill you!".

He's the most worthwhile thing in A Million Ways to Die in the West but I cringed hard during the scene when Charlize Theron planted a flower between Neeson's butt cheeks. You don't have to do this to yourself, Aslan/ Oskar Schindler/ Darkman/ Zeus/ Qui-Gon/ Ra's al Ghul!

Hopefully it'll be good

The first one was great...the first time. Didn't hold up the second time, but maybe I was just in a bad mood that day. And I actually didn't mind "A Million Ways..."; not all the jokes hit, but when they did, all was good. And once again NPH steals the show.

First one is way overrated. Have no idea how McFarlane is getting the cast for this.

This is either going to be the Dark Knight of comedy sequels, or is slowly gonna turn into a star-studded piece of crap like Anchorman 2.

Yeah I meant to say the Dark Knight of MacFarlane's films thus far. Was commenting on two things at once and got jumbled up haha. Long story short this is shaping up to be either a fantastic movie, or he's gonna load it with cameos and it'll still fair the same reviews "Million Ways" did.
