Rumor: Matthew Goode up for a role in Batman vs Superman

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

There is still a long way to go in casting the upcoming BATMAN VS SUPERMAN movie. While we have a lot of rumors and conjecture, the only confirmed addition to Henry Cavill as Superman has been Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. No one else has been confirmed for any other parts but tons of names have been bandied around. One name that is newly being thrown into the rumor mill is Matthew Goode.

Comic Book Movie has a source claiming that Goode has met with Warner Bros executives regarding an undisclosed role in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN. Goode was previously considered for the role of Superman in MAN OF STEEL and has a relationship with director Zack Snyder dating back to their time working on WATCHMEN. In that film, Goode played Ozymandias, a superhero that was equal parts Batman, Superman, and Lex Luthor.

While Goode is a solid actor, I have no idea who he could play in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN. He could make a good Luthor or any number of hero or villain roles. If the rumors of BATMAN VS SUPERMAN shooting back to back with the JUSTICE LEAGUE movie are true, he could be playing almost any DC character. I do think he is unknown enough that WB could get him cheaper than a big name star but he also has the acting chops to pull it off convincingly.

Hopefully this rumor pans out as I would love to see Goode turn in a performance like the one in the video below. BATMAN VS SUPERMAN hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
