Murphy talks A. Foley

Jul. 1, 2008by: Omar Aviles

Eddie Murphy Earlier today, we got the good news that director Brett Ratner intends to keep BEVERLY HILLS COP IV a profanity-laced "hard R". Who knows if the flick will actually be funny but at least he isn't turning Axel Foley into a kid-friendly, lovable bunny. So what does Eddie Murphy, who of course portrayed the iconic character for the last three films, think about it? Well, he's hip to the flick. Why? "Because the third 'Beverly Hills Cop' was horrible! I didn't want to leave it like that. The first two were cool and the third one was sh---y. [Let's] get the franchise fixed again, clean up this old mess and do a good movie. [Don't] just leave Axel with his thumb up his a-- from the last movie. Whatever happened to Axel Foley? He's sitting in Detroit with his thumb up his a-- since 'Beverly Hills Cop III.' Let's take those thumbs out and make a great movie!" Thumbs up ass notwithstanding, it is indeed time to fix the franchise. Will The Rat be our Foley savior? We'll soon find out. Read the rest of what Murphy had to say HERE.

Extra Tidbit: Did Murphy say the John Landis directed COP III was shitty? Awww snap! Actually, he's right.

If they bring back John Ashton maybe then I'll consider it. Reinhold I figure doesn't have anything better to do. And using that quote as an example, Murphy is still hilarious, which is why it's even more puzzling he writes such shit.

Save BHC...

The only real way to recapture the glory that came with Beverly Hills Cop II is to get Jerry Bruckheimer back on board as producer. You could feel his and Don Simpson's influences in the flick, much the way you can feel the Bruck in new films.

Admit it: 95.7% of anything the Bruck touches becomes box office gold.

Ratner still sucks. It will still be shit, but since it is 'R' I'll give that bastard my $7.50... but I won't like it.

Yeah the first two movies were great but Cop III was fucking horrible. Ratner was terrible for X-Men but I still enjoy his Rush Hour movies so there's hope.

That thumb in the ass quote is already funnier than anything he has done since Bowfinger.

Get BH4 done right and then do a hard stand up tour and call it a day!
