Peter Berg to direct an adaptation of Father’s Day

Well, since BATTLESHIP sunk, Peter Berg can now move on to projects that don’t sound so ridiculous. He can leave that big explosion shit to Michael Bay.

The next project up for Berg’s directing resume is an adaptation of Buzz Bissinger’s memoir Father’s Day: A Journey into the Mind and Heart of My Extraordinary Son. The book is centered, “around his relationship with his twins, one of whom has serious intellectual handicaps. Book chronicles a summer road trip taken by father and son and the personal journey that helps Bissinger better understand his child.”

I recently saw Bissinger on THE DAILY SHOW talking about the book. His quest to bond with his son was quite moving. Bissinger also wrote FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS which was also directed by Berg. The two are actually cousins.

This isn’t the only adaptation up for Berg. He also has LONE SURVIVOR coming up starring Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch and Ben Foster.
