Purity won’t stop Daniel Craig from coming back as James Bond

daniel craig, james bond, 007,

It's been plenty quiet on the 007 front as of late as it pertains to who will play James Bond for the 25th film in the franchise. Will Daniel Craig reprise the iconic superspy for another film, or is he truly done, opening up a vacancy for someone else to fill? All of that is yet to be determined as Eon and MGM continue shopping around for the best distribution deal they can possibly find around the studio system now that their arrangement with Sony Pictures has expired – 50% of the production costs and 100% of the marketing costs in exchange for 20% of the profits were their previous terms.

However, with Craig signing onto the Showtime series PURITY in recent months, there was a lot of speculation (myself included) that such a project might clog up the calendar for Craig in the future, making his out from the Bond series – if that's what he wishes – that much easier to pull off. But if Craig doesn't want to be 007 anymore, it won't be because PURITY is stopping him.

Showtime CEO David Nevins said as much during the TCA, basically saying any future Bond involvement, or lack thereof, will be Craig's call. “It depends when they do the next James Bond movie, but I don’t think it precludes him is the answer. This will largely be completed during the course of 2017, depending how long they’re willing to wait and shoot the next Bond. There might be some breaks somewhere, but [production] will be fairly continuous.”

Therefore, you might want to tuck away those Tom Hiddleston casting rumors for the time being and we'll see what Craig thinks now that he's gotten some distance from the last film. But, as someone who wasn't a fan of SPECTRE, I'd hope he'd come back for one more go-'round in the name of going out on a high note and not that last film we got.
