Quint goes Home

If you read Ain’t It Cool at all, you’re no doubt familiar with Eric “Quint” Vespe, one of the site’s senior writers. He’s an all-around good guy and a friendly face I’ve become accustomed to seeing at various press events. Well all good things must come to an end and it looks like Quint is cutting back his work on AICN to pursue work as a screenwriter (a job that’s just slightly more respectable than being an online journalist). He’s set up his first script, HOME, with Elijah Wood’s production company and has WETA on board to do the practical effects. The horror film takes place in a nursing home and centers around delusions that turn out to NOT be delusions after all and the residents are being preyed upon by nightmarish creatures. It sounds like an 80s-era horror flick mixed with COCOON (though with slightly less Guttenberg). Filming is expected to begin this summer down in New Zealand (as to be closer to the WETAites) with a Kristoffer Aaron Morgan making his directorial debut. So all the best to Quint and his first production. Perhaps this bodes well for my horror reimagining of “The Gummi Bears” that has yet to find an interested party.
