RIP Michael Jackson

06.25.2009

Michael Jackson As most of you have no doubt heard, Michael Jackson, the one and only King of Pop, has died. The circumstances of his death are, at this point, somewhat unclear but it seems he started with respiratory distress while at his home in Los Angeles. Paramedics were immediately called and administered CPR but he remained in a coma until he arrived at UCLA Medical Center. He was in critical condition and soon succumbed to a cardiac arrest. He was 50.

It's hard to adequately describe Jackson's profound impact on the music world. Like The Beatles or Elvis Presley, Jackson's music set a new standard in pop that hasn't even been matched to this day and, in so doing, truly changed the world. His music will resonate for as long as music exits. And though the latter part of his life was, unfortunately, mired with lawsuits, bizarre behavior, allegations of impropriety and pedophilia and an inexplicable facial transformation, he will no doubt be remembered for being the indisputable King of Pop. It's even sadder to think he was looking to reform his image by mounting a worldwide comeback tour.

We lost one of the last remaining music legends today. Feel free to post your thoughts below.

Dear Mike...

You made me smile and dance as a kid. You made me love music and kept me entertained every time I saw you on MTV. You had me trying my hardest to do the moonwalk and copy your dance moves. Your music made me smile and helped raise me. When the world turned its back on you I just played your music louder. You were accused of some truly horrible things in your life but only you, those kids and god know the truth. Still that doesn't change how you made people feel. Lay and rest now, I hope you

Why did Michael Jackson call Boys 2 Men?

Because he thought it was a delivery service.

How does the little boy that accused him of molesting him know about the birthmark on his penis? I mean can you really tell me that a grown man sleeping in the same bed with a child that is not even his own relative is not at all suspicious? Jackson admitted to sleeping in the same bed with these kids. I also never said prove he didn't so don't put words in my mouth. The jurors on his most recent trial were retarded too. One juror said she didn't like the way the victims mother looked at her.

One juror said she didn't like the way the victims mother looked at her. I'm not making this shit up. Now nobody can prove anything 100% unless you were in that room. It's just incredible that when he was alive everybody pretty much knew he did it just like everyone knew OJ did it, but now that he is dead they don't want to believe it. Sorry if none of that is proof enough for ya but it's damn convincing to me. Now I'm not here to say I'm glad he's dead or anything like that. I enjoyed his stuff A LOT. I would consider myself a bigger fan of his music than most people I knew. I didn't want to believe he did it, but to me the evidence and testimonies were too convincing. I'm just pointing out that this guy was more of a tragic figure to me than as someone that we need to immortalize. Minus the molestation charges he was an amazing man, but then again there are probably many pedophiles that have done amazing things but we don't hold them to the same standard as Michael and there's a reason why. It's not acceptable and it never should be, even if you are Michael Jackson.

Brer B8a, I've said this before and I will say it again, prove to me he actually molested kids. Don't give me the typical bullshit comeback "Prove he didn't," because I am not the one spouting off, making accusations, etc. The burden of proof lies on your shoulders (that goes for anyone else pointing the finger at him). I truly cannot believe just how many sheep are so easily fooled by the media.

Sad...doesnt quite say it.

What do you comment about the Albert Einstein of music for our era?
Who would you get to replace him?
Who can sing Beat It, and still make you want to dance to it?
Who would Billy Jean be if it wasnt for Michael Jackson?
Who'd be Justin T., Usher, and the music industry without Mike?
Who can top the Michael Jordan of music?
In the quotes of Dave Chappelle: "...he made Thriller."

Regardless of whatever he did, remember him for his good deeds, for death is the highest price to pay for anyone, especially Mike, who did his very best to entertain the world and do what he had to do to make it a better place.

Are we praising a criminal? no one knows, but does it matter? he's now passed, and death is the ultimate price to pay for any errors anyone could've ever done, why? cause there's no coming back from it.

Now, all that's left is his memory, I choose to remember his good, and if you wished to be remembered for your good deeds, so should you.

Get some well deserved rest buddy. We'll see you soon.

Growing up, I always loved MJ. Who hasn't tried dancing like him at least once in their life? And if any of you have never seen Moonwalker, I suggest you buy, rent, or download it right now! It was amazing to me as a child and I just got done watching it again and loved it just the same as I did before! R.I.P. MJ!

Narrow minded? All hail a child molester? The guy has amazing music and revolutionized the industry, but that doesn't excuse the things he did. Being narrow minded is also when you decide to ignore the bad things he did. I don't buy that he *may* have done it, because the evidence and testimonies were pretty damn convincing. The guy needed medical attention because he was obviously mentally unstable. I'm not a "hater", and I will always recognize his greatness and legendary contributions to pop

I'm not a "hater", and I will always recognize his greatness and legendary contributions to pop culture, but it's too hard for me to remember him as simply a legend. I can't help but to remember him as a tragic figure who was once on top of the world and came crashing down. I know it is easy for many people to look past the accusations, but if you were the one he molested or if it were your kid, how would you feel about the legendary king of pop then? And please don't blame the victim.

All Hail The King of Pop

Green box to celebrate an amazing life. A legend the likes of which this world will probably not see again. His life was troubled though, so hopefully he has found peace. To all the simple minded fools/religious zealots trying to tarnish Jackson's legacy, first of all, you can't do it, he will live on through his amazing musical legacy long after you are long forgotten. Any trouble he *may* have had later in life obviously stem from his child fame. He didn't get to have a childhood, that

Think about that (you won't because you're narrow minded, but I tried.) Does it excuse what he *may* have done? No, but it goes a long way towards understanding what he became. So keep hatin' cause you're not doing a damn thing and he WILL live on.

The music legend we all loved died many years ago and the Michael Jackson that died was one that was trying to shake off child molestation charges for almost the last 2 decades. I can only feel neutral on this. He had great music and great dance moves but none of that can equal out to a free pass on child molestation. RIP Farrah Fawcett

A TRAGIC LOSS.

I chose 'Neutral' not because of what it represents but because of the color black. More appropriate.

I couldn't care less about Michael Jackson's personal life or if or not he's guilty and whatnot. All I know is that the man made great music, he could dance pretty damn well, and my first ever cassette was "Dangerous" so there you go. His songs are amazing and his success unprecedented. So yeah, I don't know if he was a bad guy or not. I'm not here to mourn for the loss of a criminal. I'm

As the music industry fragments by the second, we will never again see a superstar reach the heights that Michael has.

Thanks for everything, MJ. R.I.P. May you live on forever though your music and your mark in history as the biggest pop culture icon of all time.

i grew up listening to MJ's music and have a profound respect for what he accomplished. it's sad that he will be remembered for the weirdness and the possibly pedophilia.

it's unfortunate that someone has to die for people to truly realize the impact that person had.

Just went out with a bunch of buddies and had a few drinks while the DJ played Michael Jackson hits. It was kinda surreal in a way.

My grandfather knew him as a child. I remember him telling me how bad he felt for the kid who played alone with matchbox cars for hours waiting for a show.

It's sad how life spirals out of control. Who knows what could have been next. I say just remember the good. Isn't that all anybody wants?

Sleep well Michael Jackson.

To those bad mouthing the dead, you have no proof to what you are saying other than rumors and unfounded allegations. Our Justice system works on an innocent until proven guilty. As well as this is not the place nor the time to be making such comments as the man just died.

So Rest In Peace to a man who was obviously tortured.

For all the controversy surrounding the man he did succeed in remaining something of a cipher. Like true legends. If bleaching your skin and raising allegations I'd rather not talk about is how you do it, then it's absolutely not worth the price.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the man's music, though with "Thriller" he became star of one of the most legendary music videos ever made. He put his stamp on the world, but he had the misfortune of growing up at a time where that wasn't enough.

All musical legends have their skeletons in the closet. Some might even be so damning fans don't dare mention them. An entire generation has grown up not with Jacko's music, but the image of him as some sort of alien pervert.

He grew up famous. And that's probably not a good thing. The Jackson Five stuff resonates because I grew up with their Christmas album and "Mama Kissing Santa Clause".

Like so many in history and now, this man will be a controversial figure to a greater extent than most "legends." Now is a time when media becomes history, and the truth, be whatever it may, could go either way.

So fuck whatever anyone says about the man. Pro or con. They don't know. Other than that he was. He was a talent who made it big, and even after the MAN Michael Jackson disintegrated, the ICON Michael Jackson lives on. And anyone who knows anything more than what was said in the last decade, knows he was THE KING OF FUCKING POP!

AMEN!

You can't change the Reputation people will have about you, dead or alive.
I only hope his children, will have a normal life.

Balboa6

I will agree that he was a musical genius, but he was also a sick fuck! There s more proof out there that he fucked little kids than there is proof that he did not fuck little kids! Prove to me he DID NOT fuck little kids, or shut the fuck up!
Period.

It's amazing how people such as the last two posters here have been completely duped by the media. Have you got any clue just how twisted the media can be and the false pictures they can paint to tarnish a person's reputation. I'll tell you what, PROVE to me that he had sex with kids, and then I'll buy it. Until then, shut the fuck up. Period.

R.I.P. Another legend gone.

GOOD!

HE FUCKED KIDS!!! there should be no "Rest in Peaces", they should be "good riddance's". other than a couple of jokes on late night tv, we're not losing anything entertainment-wise. there was no amazing new album on the horizon. HE FUCKED KIDS!!!! yes he did great music, but there was no more left of him. the tap was dry. he died musically 15 years ago. HE FUCKED KIDS!!! if a molester in your neighborhood dies, does everyone say "man, wgat a tragedy."? NO! HE FUCKED KIDS!!! Fucking kids wipes

I know that most deaths dont warrant a sense of gladness...BUT HE FUCKED KIDS!!!

and children.

sorry, you set that one up.

On a serious note, Thriller and Bad are some of my all time favorite albums. Despite his creepiness and bad allegations made in his later years, it doesn't change his profound impact on music, and I fucking thought he was awesome growing up.

Question

Now that he is dead will he be frozen cryogenically like he wanted to be back in the 80s?

This is bad news indeed - a very shocking bad news. I liked him a lot when I was a kid. It's too bad that his latter days weren't as good as his Thriller or Dangerous days. He was a talented musician. I always think that Thriller is the definitive music video. Rest in peace, Mr. Jackson.

It's a shame the younger generation will connect him to the controversy and punchline he became in recent years, because he was a talent that had few equals back in the day. RIP, and my best wishes go out to his family.

Goodbye Mr. Jackson

It wasn't until now that I think back to his Thriller days..his days as Captain EO or when I first saw him in Moonwalker.

The more I think about it, the more I forget how he played an impact on my life as a 25 year old.

RIP

I've never been an big MJ fan, but you can't deny the man's influence on music. He was an amazing singer/dancer, and I wish he'd had the chance to launch a successful comeback tour.
