Simon Kinberg set to write the Fantastic Four reboot

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

How we feeling about that FANTASTIC FOUR reboot that Josh Trank is directing? I think the word here is optimistic. The 2005 version fell flat, and felt like it was rushed just to get a movie about the foursome out. Maybe no one knew what to do with a superhero ensemble? We could go into the casting but that might launch a much larger debate. What’s in the past is in the past and now it’s time to start from the beginning.

Simon Kinberg (X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, SHERLOCK HOLMES) has been hired to write the screenplay for the reboot. Looking over the writer’s resume might make you feel a little hesitant. There’s not too much that stands out but he does have superhero experience. The project has cycled through a number of writers with the last I recall being Seth Grahame-Smith. It’s said that Kinberg will be doing a major overhaul of the script.

Regardless of my feelings on Kinberg, I still think that this project has plenty of potential. These are characters that deserve a good film. I wonder if they will want the tone to be “dark and edgy”.

What do you guys want to see in a FANTASTIC FOUR movie? Who is your ideal writer on a project like this?
