Thanks to my Dad, I got hooked on the animated HBO series for SPAWN when I was 13. It must be my lucky day because Todd McFarlane says it's coming back.

This news comes via the ever popular place for dropping news, Twitter. McFarlane said this on his account, "ANIMATION: For those that've asked, the SPAWN ANIMATED show will be back in Hollywood's face in 2010. Legal issues delayed it past few years." It's too early to know if HBO will air the series again, but if we're lucky they will.

I thought after the movie came out in 1997 that it would kill anything for the series, but it didn't. I was definitely disappointed with the movie though. It was just watered down so much it was ridiculous. Perhaps I expected too much, but seriously?! Was it too hard to ask for a decent adaptation? No. I just think it got handed to the wrong people. With McFarlane working on a second SPAWN movie, he will have more say this time about how everything pans out.

All I know is I've missed SPAWN. I also knew a lot of you were fans of the tortured character, so hopefully this makes your day. The series was exceptional and it deserves to be back on.

He is awesome. Way more awesome than I am, I can assure you that. lol Now he is definitely more picky with his movies than I am. I've never met anyone picker.

interesting.
My dad was hooked on this too when I was a kid. surprisingly, I never really watched it but I've heard good things. I'll give check it out tho and only lookin forward to this comn back as long as it's on HBO.

That is wild. You should really get the series on HBO before they come out with a new one. Hopefully HBO does get it and they don't ruin it and put it on some dumbass channel.

i literally just finished watching the animated series like two days ago, so this is pretty sick news. hopefully mcfarlane can bring back the grittiness and hardcore feeling of spawn into movie form. if anyone can do it, its him. the movie was a joke, didn't capture the tone of spawn at all. a little fun fact for you guys. the guy who directed spawn, you know what his follow up movies were?...

The Maxx might be harder to get on DVD. MTV is weird about their past animated series, which is really sad. There's a lot of good stuff out there.

Always liked the HBO series. Hope they put it on earlier than midnite this time. Now, my wet dream is them bringing back "The MAXX"!!!

hahaha! If you watch MTV2 some Friday nights Jimmy, they play some of the old stuff from Liquid Television. I don't know how often though.
