Stevenson is going from the rather stacked PUNISHER to the round Volstagg in Kenneth Branagh's THOR.

Volstagg is one of the members of the Warrior's Three, which also includes Fandral (Stuart Townsend) and Hogun (Tadanobu Asano). The character of Volstagg is obviously inspired by Shakespeare's Falstaff. However, he isn't as big according to Stevenson, "It's fantastic. I've tried the suit on, and what they've done is kind of sex him up: he's sort of slimmer but rounder." Everyone likes a sexy fluffy man.

But wait, why sex him up? Isn't he also called "Volstagg the Voluminous"? The ROME actor explains, "He's got every bit of that Falstaffian verve and vigour, and a bit of a beergut to suggest that enormous appetite, but he's not the sort of Weeble-shaped figure he is in the comics. He's Falstaff with muscles. I've got this amazing foam-injected undersuit that flexes with me. I can't wait!" I like Weebles, they wobble but don't fall down. So, it's a fat suit with a beer belly? Or perhaps something like the one Tom Cruise wore to play Les Grossman in TROPIC THUNDER?

The film should still be something really amazing. I think the cast is wonderful: Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Kat Dennings, Stellan Skarsgard, Idris Elba, and Sam Jackson appearing as Nick Fury. THOR wasn't necessarily a favorite comic of mine, but I'm interested in seeing how Branagh works it all out.

Jane is good in anything he does... (although Punisher sucked hairy balls.. he did a solid job, as always)



BTW.. what ever happened to GIVE'EM HELL MALONE?



It's still on my top 10 most anticipated films (along with EXPENDABLES of course).

Ray Stevenson's the shit...
Punisher War Zone will go down as one of the most underrated action films of all time. There's no reason why someone who appreciates Shoot 'Em Up or John Woo's The Killer wouldn't appreciate that movie.



I blame Lionsgate for its piss poor marketing.

since they are using fat suits
lets make this movie horrible and have the master of the fat suit eddie murphy be volstag, he wil use a germin accent and cheezy makeup for the rest.,

as long as it doesn't look like the fake fat suit they made for Blob in Wolverine, that shit was cheesey as hell, but I guess it's cool that they're not making him as big as the books, maybe he's gonna have fight scenes that require allot of physical work and that would be hard with a huge fat suit, they also could have cast an actor who had more likeness to the character of Volstagg than go...

You could dress several actors up as Frank Castle. But it's all a matter of preference. I don't go crazy fangirl all over people's asses because they see a different vision of a character than I do. Jane works more for me than Stevenson.

I JUST WANT MY KIDS BACK
i think tom jane is a great actor, but he was a terrible choice for the punisher. ray stevenson was the perfect punisher in my opinion and his involvement is just another reason why i cannot wait for THOR.

Big muscles, big belly and big beard
Like the Juggernaut-suit with a belly, that sounds great. He looks so silly all round like Obelix. Marvel really should re-design him and get a clue from Brannagh.

I loved the last Punisher. The over the top violence, throwback action style was perfect. But all the people who complained about marvel always going for pg-13 didn't go see it.

Who needs muscles?
Personally I think the above image is more intimidating than a tough guy with a beer gut. I've been punched before but it can't be anywhere near as bad as being sat on by a weeble.

Niki Jane was a horrible punisher he looked nothing like frank and he was too pretty boy clean shaven.



Stevenson had the gritty beat up look frank needed and he delivered in war zone

He didn't look much like Frank, but I liked his performance better. Sadly, Stevenson sounded like Christian Bale's Batman trying to be Frank Castle.

However, I do respect your opinion. :) To each his own.
