The Coen Brothers choose Oscar Isaac to lead their next film

Perhaps the Coen Brother’s new film, INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS isn’t getting as much press as it’s not a black comedy or violent epic like their other work. Rather, it’s the story of the 1960s folk music scene, and a change of pace from their usual fare.

And they’re making a change in leads as well. They’re not pulling from the A-list, rather they’re making actor Oscar Isaac Llewyn Davis. You might recognize him most recently from both DRIVE and SUCKER PUNCH, and this will definitely be his biggest role to date. I guess he can sing?

The Coens are said to be going for an Altman-ish approach to the film which will have live music and naturalistic dialogue to make it seem more like a documentary and less like a film. The whole project seems pretty experimental for them, and it will be interesting to see what the final result is when the dust settles.

Think Isaac has it in him to lead a movie like this? Hard to tell from his past performances, but it could be a breakout moment for the actor.
