The first four minutes of Lockout are definitely worth your time

Apr. 9, 2012by:

There is no doubt that LOCKOUT is going to be fun. TAKEN was dark and serious, but had good action. LOCKOUT adds humor to the mix and gives us a slew of memorable one-liners, all in the first four minutes! Combine that with the clips released recently and it looks like we are in for a very quotable movie.

In case you don't know, here's the story: Set in the near future, LOCKOUT follows a falsely convicted ex-government agent (Pearce), whose one chance at obtaining freedom lies in the dangerous mission of rescuing the President’s daughter (Grace) from rioting convicts at an outer space maximum-security prison.

It is TAKEN mixed with ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK and that is a compliment of the highest order. Check out the clip below.

LOCKOUT makes me feel like a kid again going to see a movie that is not overhyped and just leaves me feeling like I had fun at the theater. I hope it lives up to my self-created hype. Surprisingly, the movie only got a PG-13 rating despite the rampant language and the dude getting shot in the face in that clip. Hopefully we have not seen all the good parts already.

LOCKOUT opens this Friday.

I really loved the opening, with the title credits appearing behind Guy Pearce's head, and disappearing as he comes back up. The one-liners are exceptional. It's like the best of 80s action movies all over again. I'm prepared to enjoy this movie a lot.

Here we go again

Another potentially awesome movie butchered by the overly PC Hollywood studio executives. Fuck this. I'm waiting for the UNRATED to hit home.

"Quotable"?

How is "quotable" considered a quality in evaluating a film? Also, "Taken had good action"? Struggling for writers these days, JB?

As much as I'd like Lockout to be a good film, I've got this awful feeling that's going to end up being a POS. I'll probably wait for a rental on this one.

US: PG13, Europe: R

First of all, the US will get a CENSORED PG13 cut, and considering the (sometimes) over the top violence was one of the VERY FEW good things of this otherwise POS, I fear for the result.
And, as good and badass as Guy Pearce is in Lockout (and he is), this film is a waste of time, with so many plot holes and bad SFX (The Motorcycle chase is just plain UNWATCHABLE) it makes SiFi's TV Movies Oscar worthy in comparison!
I know it seems harsh, but I was SO MUCH expecting to have FUN with it...

This movie looks cool, but I just can't get by the fact that this movie is uncut overseas, and pg-13 here. I want to see it, but I dont want to see a watered down version to make the studio money. I may wait and buy it on dvd if its uncut and what the Europeans are getting to see. I love how hollywood thinks we want to see a watered down version. The only reason American Pie didn't get number 1 in the box office is because every time there is a teenager that wants to see a R movie, they pay for

If theaters would actually do their jobs R rated movies would make money

You're in the right. Only a steaming pile of cunt would argue the rating doesn't matter for a film like this.

His voice, when in the lower range (towards the beginning of the clip especially) makes me think he'd be a pretty solid choice for agent Sam Fisher.

FUCK THIS RELEASE.
FUCK THE BULLSHIT MARKETING.

You are being shown a clip from the UNCENSORED international cut NOT the butchered PG-13 version that will be infesting American cinemas.

From IndieWire: "(Side note: the bloody headshot that appears in the clip below, wasn't in the PG-13 American cut that we saw)" Full article:

Nice!

I've kind of written this off due to it's lackluster promotions of late, but damn if that opening scene didn't spark my interest. Guy Pearce is awesome, and makes pretty solid choices. I should trust that dude more often.
