Unused concept art reveals Valkyrie was almost in Thor: The Dark World

Jaimie Alexander's Lady Sif is awesome, but she's not the only female warrior in Asgard, and at one point there were plans for another one to appear in THOR: THE DARK WORLD, based on this unused concept art. Artist Josh Nizzi has uploaded some images of his work on THOR: THE DARK WORLD to his site, and several of them feature Valkyrie. Who's Valkyrie, you ask? Her real name is Brunnhilde, and she's pretty much the female version of Thor. Valkyrie was picked by Odin to lead The Valkyrior, a group of warrior goddesses, and she has also been a member of the superhero group The Defenders.

Take a look:

But just because Valkyrie wasn't in THOR: THE DARK WORLD doesn't mean we'll never see her on the big screen. Marvel's cinematic universe keeps getting bigger and bigger with each new movie, and I wouldn't be surprised if Valkyrie (or The Valkyrior) ends up appearing in one of their future films.

THOR: THE DARK WORLD will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on February 25th, 2014, and you can preorder it here.

I like the second one, with the first one's helmet and the third's wings. I imagine she could have shown up during the funeral scene. Woulda been sweet.

That looks badass! But no harm done, Thor 2 was a good movie without her. And there's always potential for the character to be introduced in Thor 3.

If Marvel can pull off Thor and any costumes like these, then it's no stretch of the imagination to have an honest to comics Wonder Woman.

Valkyrie or the Valkyrie (aka The Valkyrior)? They're like Norse Amazons.

Would have been awesome to see. Just introduce the character in Thor 3.

That looks terrific. I do hope Valkyrie finds her way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon; I think she would've been a welcome presence in Thor: The Dark World. I think Ali Larter might have made a good Valkyrie. Katee Sackhoff is another fairly obvious choice. Diora Baird was rumoured for the part and no complaints there.
