Will Alec Baldwin join NBC's late-night lineup?

04.10.2013

Alec Baldwin

Just recently it was announced that Jimmy Fallon would be replacing Jay Leno as host of The Tonight Show in 2014 and Seth Meyers was in talks to become the new host of Late Night for the departing Fallon. So what late-night show on NBC could Alec Baldiwn possibly take over?

Oh, Last Call with Carson Daly still exists? My bad.

Alec Baldwin is in talks to helm his very own late night show according to The New York Times and their source, an unidentified executive at NBC that is involved with the network's program planning. Baldwin's show would likely take over the time slot that currently has Last Call and it isn't known if it will be an entirely new show or Alec Baldwin would just become the new host and tweak the format to his liking.

This isn't that surprising considering Alec Baldwin and NBC have a pretty solid relationship due to his work on 30 Rock and the multiple times he's hosted Saturday Night Live. I don't think anyone's going to argue that Alec Baldwin is a poor replacement for Carson Daly (except for maybe the seven Carson Daly super-fans out there) and if he does become the new host, NBC would have a pretty impressive lineup for their late-night shows.

Talks are still in the very early stages and there's always a chance things could fall through, so stay tuned for more news as it comes in. Until then you can get a feel for Alec Baldwin's interviewing style by checking out his podcast series with WNYC radio called "Here's The Thing." Enjoy.

Extra Tidbit: Do you like the idea of Alec Baldwin hosting a late-night show or do you have a better suggestion?
