X-Men: Days of Future Past to see an extended cut with more Rogue scenes

07.07.2014

It was reported early on that the bulk of Rogue's scenes got the axe when it came to the final cut of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. We all figured that we would just see them via deleted scenes on the eventual Blu-ray/DVD release, but it looks like the folks at Twentieth Century Fox might have something a little cooler planned for X-Fans. Producer Lauren Shuler Donner was goodly enough to confirm as much in a twitter response.

I'm actually surprised that the "extended cut" hasn't been taken advantage of sooner when it comes to the X-Men, and I mean that in a Lord of the Rings kinda way. Everyone has their favorite characters, and with so many to go around, I'm sure very few would oppose it. If theatrical cuts of THE HOBBIT or TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION can tip-toe near the 3-hour mark, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST can certainly handle an extended version that probably wouldn't come close to that. Granted, I'm sure a DAYS OF FUTURE PAST extended cut wont be on a "Lord of the Rings scale", but I'm curious as to what other scenes could be added back into the mix. Either way, X-Men proved to be one of the most fun flicks of the year, so I'm all for more of it.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is in theaters now, although we can expect the Blu-ray/DVD later this year.

In the new scenes Rogue sits around crying and eating a pint of Breyers reminiscing about Cody.

I'll never make any effort to watch these scenes not this movie again.

Meh

Whether you like the character or not, it's difficult to make he argument that DOFP needed her in it. I honestly don't know where she would've fit in.

Always thought the role was miscast. Glad to see she wasn't involved in Days of Future Past as much as the other mutants. Would rather see more of Quicksilver, Nightcrawler, Older Beast, and actually see Cyclops and Jean Grey ACTUALLY utilized this time around.

Around the time when the first movie came out, I thought Debra Messing would have been great in a 90s X-men cartoon sort of way. Never really liked Anna.

Glad it was left for DVD

Glad it was out... they are going back in time, preventing a huge war from starting and destroying the world and trying not to get killed in the process. Yet once again we have to see Rogue get rescued. Unless her powers would have been needed to go back in time, her rescue scene is completely useless.

In the original cut of the film, Kitty is too weak to maintain Wolverine's link to the past after he accidentally stabs her. This was all eventually cut because it takes away from the film's tension in the third act. What isn't clear is how much of this was actually filmed and then cut and how much never even made it out of the scripting stage. I guess we'll find out when the DVD/BR is released.

Personally, I would have liked to see more of the dystopian future and those characters. There's a rumored 30 minutes of cut footage and I imagine most of it is the 2023 setting.

Rouge was like Cyclops in the movies. They were great in X-Men 1, but the writers couldn't do anything with them in the sequels.

Heh, the character is terrible in the movies. Glad she wasn't in it.
