The boys over at our sister horror site Arrow in the Head have broken the scoop wide open on who's directing THE PUNISHER 2. Early reports surfaced that John Dahl (ROUNDERS) would be directing but Arrow's reporting that Dahl is out and Lexi Alexander is in. Lexi Alexander? Refresh my memory Arrow - didn't she used to work here? No, that was another Lexi. This one was the director of the Elijah Wood soccer drama HOOLIGANS. OK, that wasn't a bad flick, but she's gonna direct THE PUNISHER 2? Not sure I'm digging the choice (Dahl with Thomas Jane would've been pretty damn cool but Dahl confirms his own departure here) but now that Jane has dropped out, this one looks like it could go direct-to-DVD. The studio is currently searching for their new Frank Castle but haven't found anyone just yet. I say bring back Dolph Lundgren and go for a movie that's so bad it's good. It's gonna wind up being bad anyway, why not have some fun with it!

Extra Tidbit: At age 19 Alexander became a world champion kickboxer. I take back what I said - she'd be a great choice! (Please don't kick my ass...)

Punisher lost it's main star and director. They would have to pull off Hulk 2-type casting to redeem themselves now.

The only way this can get worse is if they announce that Zak Penn as screenwriter.

MARVELING DESPERATION
It's nice to see Punisher again, am glad another Director was choosen and am sure there are plenty of good actors willing to replace Jane(he was good though). Cool idea but can someone please explain why Hulk 2 is being made when this film has way more potential? Pls.

as countless others have said. Does anyone care. At this point even theatrical sequels are starting to seem like a bad idea. Can't we have some originality for once? This may have been a great comic, but it sure made for a terrible movie.

I dont care who directs it as long as they treat the character good, And please get tom jane back because no one else can play the punisher but him. And maybe get a new script because tom jane said that he didnt like the direction that the script was heading in. If janes not in it i dont want it.

I'm not against having a woman direct this, as dome22 stated, there are several talented female directors out there (and probably many more that we don't know about), but the REAL issue is the movie itself, which in my ever-so-humble opinion, should just....die.

This movie shouldn't be made. It has nothing to do with the gender of the director, it has to do with the fact that the script is terrible, and the star of the movie walked BECAUSE of said terrible script.

Dont make the friggin movie!!! a girl? im not dissing on the female gender...but i've not heard of a good woman director...ever. (maybe im an ignorant) but if the parenthesis is correct then allow me to die in peace prior to this movie coming out. you guys wanted to know how a superhero dies? go see this movie...thanks Hollywood!!!!!

Bloody Hell...
You know, ever since I heard that Thomas Jane would not be returning for a Punisher sequel, I basically stopped giving a damn about a Punisher sequel. I don't care anymore. I just don't give a damn. It doesn't matter if it goes STV or to the theater, I probably won't even see it.

Wow... What a pitty. If Punisher 2 had the same director, same main actor and Rebecca Romijn again... just with more gritty action, it could have been great... :(

All i've got now is the Hulk and TDK, unless they get an awesome actor to play Captain Marvel.
