A few days ago a super blurred image of the poster for JJ Abrams upcoming monster movie 1.18.08 hit online, but we hear at AITH decided to hold back and wait… because it was only a matter of time before a clearer image presented itself online. Low and behold we were right, and here it is… the poster for 1.18.08!
Fairly slick ‘teaser’ of a poster, I haven’t decided if the MONSTROUS at the top is, in fact, the actual title of the movie or some weird form of tag line… but the image of the headless Statue-of-Liberty is pretty rockin’. In some bizarre way, the poster reminds me of the ones for THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, which featured the Statue frozen in snow… I guess an iconic architectural figure like her is going to be used as much as possible when pimping disaster movies in New York, so it only seems right that it’s here. Plus, everyone who saw TRANSFORMERS likely remembers the one part of the trailer preceding it of Liberty’s head bouncing down the street – good way to use the rest of her body to let people know what movie we’re talkin’ about here.
