So yeah, we’ve got all this vampire stuff heading our way with TWILIGHT this and TWILIGHT that with some VAMPIRE DIARIES stuff thrown in somewhere… but where’s the werewolf love? Sure… we have THE WOLF MAN heading our way later this year… but that’s it! Other than that the cinema is ruled by the dark prince. But today there’s a ripple in that wave.
Variety have word on a new horror project just picked up by 1492 Entertainement. The project is called WELCOME TO HOXFORD and is based on the horror graphic novel of the same name from IDW Publishing. HOXFORD was created by Ben Templesmith, who also co-penned the 30 DAYS OF NIGHT comics. Just can’t seem to get away from those damn bloodsuckers…
Nah, I joke. I love vampires. But I’m always keeping an eye out for that standout werewolf movie. Does HOXFORD stand a chance? You be the judge, here’s the synopsis: A psychiatrist must team with a deeply disturbed patient in order to escape werewolves who run an institution for the criminally insane. Werewolves running a mental hospital? Awesome. Deeply disturbed patient? Oh this one has got some potential… I’m down!
1492’s Chris Columbus is producing alongside partners Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe. That’s all we’ve got so far on WELCOME TO HOXFORD. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this one so keep it here for any and all updates as we hear them.
Agnes Bruckner is no stranger to werewolves, having starred in the forgetable BLOOD AND CHOCOLATE.
