I don’t know about you, but I’m a sucker for movie posters. I could give a flock about the actual movie, when I see a good poster at the cineplex, I just stand back and take it all in. Given, for a poster to interest me, the movie generally has to interest me, but that’s not always the case. And lets face it, there’s plenty of movies out there with awesome posters that ended up being a ball of crap (CAPTIVITY anyone?).
The good folks at IMP Awards have just announced the winners for best posters of 2007, and it seems as though the horror is getting some great recognition. Not only was the genre all over the nominations for Best Poster (including SWEENEY TODD, ZODIAC, GRINDHOUSE, and PREMONITION) but all over Worse Poster, Creepiest Poster, Best (and Worse) Teaser, Bravest Poster, and just about everything in between.
To check out the nominations, winners, and losers of the best of the best for the year, go ahead and click HERE. Do you like what you see? Would you have rather seen other posters win, lose, or simply be nominated? Never fear, as JoBlo‘s very own The Golden Schmoes: Movie Awards is now accepting nominations for best/worse poster, as well as all the other categories you can think of. This is your chance to do more than gripe, or wish your favorite film was nominated – this is your chance to make it happen!
But in the meantime, see what IMP had to say, and let’s hope 2008 goes a bit futher in its quest for the perfect poster.
This here be my favorite poster of the year!
