2016 will get off to a horrific start with Sinister 2 on DVD/Blu

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Although I was very interested in checking the movie out, I didn't end up seeing SINISTER 2 in the theatre. Clearly I'm not the only one who saw the first SINISTER on the big screen but didn't return for its sequel, as it made just $27 million at the domestic box office, while its predecessor made $48 million. I had a good reason for skipping it, though: I want to watch it for the first time with a friend of mine who wasn't able to go to the cinema with me, so I'm waiting to watch it with them on DVD or Blu-ray. I'm a good pal that way.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has now announced exactly when my friend and I are going to get a chance to watch the movie: SINISTER 2 will be available for digital download as of December 22, with a DVD and Blu-ray release following on January 12.

Special features on the Blu-ray will include

– Extended Kill Films

– Deleted Scenes

– Time to Watch Another: The Making of Sinister 2

– Feature Commentary with Director Ciaran Foy

The DVD will be lacking the Extended Kill Films, but will have the other three bonus features.

SINISTER 2 also fell short of the original in critical reception, receiving mostly negative reviews. The fact that The Arrow gave the sequel a 5/10 review after giving the first SINISTER a 10/10 makes me think that I'm not missing much by not having seen it yet, but I still look forward to sitting down and watching it sometime in January.

SINISTER 2 can be pre-ordered on Amazon.
