Huge disaster movies aim for several things. Some want to be great movies, others aim for amazing special effects, great stories, whatever. Almost all disaster movies have one thing in common: they mean a fun time at the movies!
What can be better than sitting in an air conditioned theater watching the world get destroyed on the big screen? Exactly.
We’ve been keeping you updated on 2012, the latest disaster movie from Roland Emmerich, since we heard about it. Emmerich of course being the crowned king of disaster movies. The last update we gave you was that John Cusack would be starring in Mr. Emmerich’s latest catastrophe along with Chiwetel Ejiofor.
Well we’ve got three more names set to join the cast from The Hollywood Reporter today. Those names are: Danny Glover (above), Oliver Platt, and Thandie Newton (below).
Solid. I’m a huge Cusack fan. Platt is always gold as the subtle comedy side character, and Thandie Newton is hot. I’m game. Glover is looking to play the president with Newton playing his daughter and Platt playing his chief of staff in a flick centering on a global cataclysm and tells the heroic struggle of the survivors.
Hmm.. adding the president into the mix? Not sure if that’s good or bad. As always, we’ll keep you updated.
