According to Variety, Brian Yuzna (the man behind BRIDE OF THE RE-ANIMATOR) is going 3D–times three. Under his new Komodo Film production company, Yuzna is to produce three horror flicks in 3D that have “the Sci-Fi Channel” written all over them.
The movies? AMPHIBIOUS, directed by Yuzna, about a giant sea scorpian. NECRONAUTS, from director Brett Leonard (THE LAWNMOWER MAN), about a journey into the realm of death. And COLD BLOODED, from director Richard Stanley (DUST DEVIL), about an island of man-eating Komodo dragons and the unlucky American tourists who just happen to be visiting.
Sounds like three classic films, eh? While a bit schlocky, I can see each of these films working really well as 3D gimmick movies… as if it were 1956 all over again. Hey nothing wrong with that, as I love 3D movies, and the more gimmicks the better!
Production is set to be begin early next year in Indonesia on AMPHIBIOUS, with the other two films to follow shortly thereafter. Sea Scorpians. The Dead. Killer Komodo Dragons. 3D. I’m so there.
