Variety reports this morning that four new cast members have joined the remake of Wes Craven’s THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT, and it should be no surprise that they are all virtually unknowns.
Garret Dillahunt, Rhys Coiro, Martha MacIsaac (SUPERBAD) and Riki Lindhome (PULSE). Any of them ring a bell? After some research, yes – but without, I couldn’t have picked any of them out of a line-up if my life depended on it. Dillahunt has had some recent success, with roles in NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD, and is set to play the film’s lead villain Krug, originally portrayed by David Hess.
I must have been sleeping under a boat, but I don’t think I’ve actually heard what the remake will be about until today, and frankly… it doesn’t really sound like a remake at all!
The story revolves around a couple, on vacation at their lakeshore house, who inadvertently gives shelter to the sociopaths who have just assaulted and nearly killed their daughter. After discovering the truth, they exact revenge on the attackers.
Couple on vacation? Lakeshore house? Doesn’t sound like the LAST HOUSE that I know and love. I guess having a group of sketchy folks arrive at your doorstep in the middle of nowhere looking for a place to stay – well, in today’s world, that would never happen.. then again, doing the same thing while on vacation would never happen either, so go figure.
Filming is set to begin next month in South Africa, no word on when Rogue Pictures is planning to release this bad boy… keep it here for more news on this pointless remake as we hear it!
Martha MacIsaac was pretty hot in SUPERBAD.
