6 minute sneak peek of Ant-Man in front of IMAX screenings of Jurassic World

Marvel Studios is not going to take any chances with ANT-MAN. After a much publicized rocky start to production that saw Edgar Wright depart and Peyton Reed take over as director, the studio has been working tirelessly to market ANT-MAN as the next chapter in their interconnected universe. You can tell the studio really wants to drive home the fact that the Paul Rudd-led superhero film is related to the Avengers as they showed in the most recent TV spot. Now, they are giving fans an early chance to spread the buzz.

Marvel Studios will debut six minutes of footage from ANT-MAN in front of IMAX screenings of JURASSIC WORLD this weekend. JURASSIC WORLD is shaping up to be a critic-proof blockbuster with fans of the franchise turning out in droves. With a likely opening weekend north of $50 million, Marvel is hedging their bets that showcasing ANT-MAN will build word of mouth in the final month leading to it’s release. Marvel did not make a similar marketing movie with the unknown GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and that film went on to be an incredible success.

I have a sneaking suspicion that despite wanting ANT-MAN to be awesome that it is going to fall short of the other films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I am excited to see it and have loved the trailers so far, but I have this gut feeling that it is going to suck. Marvel has invested too much into the character to abandon it completely and with Paul Rudd appearing in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, I think he is here to stay for a while. But, I am worried that this is going to be bad. I hope I am wrong.

ANT-MAN opens on July 17th.
