90’s nostalgia returns as Legends of the Hidden Temple gets Quibi reboot

Quibi, the upcoming streaming service founded by Jefferey Katzenberg, has announced the reviving and reimagining of LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE, the beloved 90's competition show, produced by Nickelodeon and Stone & Company. Originally airing from 1993-1999 on Nickelodeon, LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE found kid contestants engaging in a series of challenges for the chance to enter Olmec's temple, a tomb filled with puzzles, obstacles, villains, and prizes.

As per Quibi's official press release for the upcoming game show:

This new, supersized, reimagined version will preserve many of the favorite original elements of the show – the Moat Crossing, Olmec and the Temple Run – but will see them “grown up” for an audience that’s grown up along with them. The entire set will be taken out of the studio, into a jungle and scaled up with tougher challenges and bigger prizes on the line.

So get your knee and elbow pads ready, because Quibi will soon be looking for superfans to play. But beware, this action-packed competition will test your adventure skills at a whole new level. Enter at your own risk – “the choice is yours and yours alone.”

“Bringing back ‘Legends’ for Quibi is a dream come true,” said Scott A. Stone, Executive Producer. “I have been so lucky to be part of this defining millennial show, and now there is a defining millennial platform to go with it. I couldn’t be more excited.”

Wow! Now if only we could get Quibi to reboot much of Nickelodeon's 90's game show slate, with shows like Finders Keepers, Get the Picture, Figure it Out, Nick Arcade, and What Would You Do? For real, I would consider a subscription to the streamer if a number of those shows were announced. It's always been my dream to compete on a Nickelodeon game show. I'm far too old for it now, and the closest I've ever come was being asked a question by Double Dare's Mark Summers for Double Dare Live at Nassau Coliseum. True story. Mark asked me to name a show that belonged to Nickelodeon's SNICK lineup, and I'd answered correctly with "Ren and Stimpy!" I won a green slime-colored Nickelodeon hat for my efforts. It was awesome.

We'll be sure to keep you in the loop as more details for Quibi's LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE reboot are announced.
