Director Adam Egypt Mortimer's imaginary friend horror film DANIEL ISN'T REAL is getting a theatrical, On Demand, and Digital release this Friday, December 6th, and in anticipation of that release a clip has arrived online and can be seen above.
DANIEL ISN'T REAL stars Miles Robbins and Patrick Schwarzenegger. Based on the novel In This Way I Was Saved by Brian DeLeeuw (you can pick up a copy HERE), the film has the following synopsis:
Troubled college freshman Luke (Robbins) suffers a violent family trauma and resurrects his childhood imaginary friend Daniel (Schwarzenegger) to help him cope. Charismatic and full of manic energy, Daniel helps Luke to achieve his dreams, before pushing him to the very edge of sanity and into a desperate struggle for control of his mind — and his soul.
Mortimer and DeLeeuw wrote the screenplay together.
Robbins and Schwarzenegger are joined in the cast by Sasha Lane, Hannah Marks, and Mary Stuart Masterson.
By the point in the film that the clip was lifted from, Luke is no longer having a good time with Daniel around, and Daniel isn't being very friendly to him. It defeats the purpose of having an imaginary friend when the "friend" is telling him to cut his own head off. This looks pretty interesting to me.
DANIEL ISN'T REAL was produced by SpectreVision's Elijah Wood, Daniel Noah, Josh C. Waller, and Lisa Whalen. SpectreVision's Stacy Jorgensen, Elisa Lleras, and Michael McGuire served as executive producers alongside ACE Pictures' Johnny Chang, Peter Wong, Emma Lee, and Timur Bekbosunov.
