12 Monkeys showrunner brings Last American Vampire to Quibi

Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman will be bringing the world a new streaming service in April of 2020, one that's called Quibi because it will offer "quick bites" of entertainment. Intended to be watched on your smart phone while you're on the go, episodes of Quibi shows will be in the range of 10 minutes or less.

While Quibi assembles the content it will be offering its subscribers, the service has been displaying an enticing interest in genre shows. Steven Spielberg is developing a horror series called Spielberg's After Dark, which will only be available for viewing from midnight until dawn; Alexandre Aja will be directing an adaptation of the manga Tomie; Sam Raimi is heading up a series called 50 States of Fear; Guillermo del Toro is working on a show that will tell a "modern zombie story"; Blumhouse is contributing a FATAL ATTRACTION-esque show called Wolves and Villagers.

The latest addition to Quibi's genre show line-up is Last American Vampire.

A 20th Century Fox TV project, Last American Vampire is being executive produced by David Katzenberg, Seth Grahame Smith, and Aaron Schmidt. Terry Matalas, who served as showrunner on Syfy's 12 Monkeys series (pictured above), is writing the script.

While the title makes me wish this was some kind of bloodsucking follow-up to the '80s classic THE LAST AMERICAN VIRGIN, Last American Vampire will actually tell the story of

a young female FBI agent who is partnered with a wealthy, 500-year-old vampire bon vivant to protect the world from a dangerous threat.

Now I'm interested in finding out what this "dangerous threat" they'll be facing is.
