Alexandre Aja being eyed to reboot A Nightmare On Elm Street!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

HIGH TENSION and THE HILLS HAVE EYES director Alexandre Aja's new alligators attack during a hurricane flick CRAWL hit theaters today and already we have word (a rumor) that Aja is in the running to reboot Wes Craven's A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET for the big screen!

This is just a rumor at the time, but we will make sure to keep track of this news and pass along word as we hear it!

The last time we saw Freddy and pals on the big screen was in Samuel Bayer's 2010 remake starring Jackie Earle Haley as Fred "Freddy" Krueger and Rooney Mara as Nancy Holbrook. That remake sported this rundown:

Teenagers Nancy, Quentin, Kris, Jesse and Dean are all neighborhood friends who begin having the same dream of a horribly disfigured man who wears a tattered sweater and a glove made of knives. The man, Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley), terrorizes them in their dreams, and the only escape is to wake up. But when one of their number dies violently, the friends realize that what happens in the dream world is real, and the only way to stay alive is to stay awake.

Bayer directed A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (2010) from a screenplay by Wesley Strick and Eric Heisserer based on characters created by Wes Craven. Michael Bay produced the remake with Andrew Form and Brad Fuller. Jackie Earle Haley and Rooney Mara's co-stars included Kyle Gallner, Katie Cassidy, Thomas Dekker, and Kellan Lutz. New Line Cinema unleashed the updated nightmare into theaters way back on April 30, 2010.
