According to Deadline, STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER's John Boyega is slated to star in a THE TEST, a new drama/thriller from director Gavin Hood (X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE).

Like many of the films being developed right now, THE TEST is set to be a contained thriller that will also star Payman Maadi (Westworld) as a soft-spoken immigrant taking a citizen evaluation test. John Boyega will be playing a brilliant young behavioral psychologist supervising the test, and the pair will confront a terrorist group lead by a far-right fanatic. Hood said that THE TEST is "a heart-pounding psychological thriller, set in an authoritarian near-future that grabbed me by the throat and left me reeling." In addition to directing the project, Hood also wrote the script. With the STAR WARS Sequel Trilogy now behind him, it will be good to see Boyega stretch himself in other films. Speaking of STAR WARS, the actor recently criticized how the Sequel Trilogy handled Finn's arc as well as the other people of colour in the franchise.

What I would say to Disney is do not bring out a black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are and then have them pushed to the side. It’s not good. I’ll say it straight up. Like, you guys knew what to do with Daisy Ridley, you knew what to do with Adam Driver. You knew what to do with these other people, but when it came to Kelly Marie Tran, when it came to John Boyega, you know f*** all. So what do you want me to say? What they want you to say is, ‘I enjoyed being a part of it. It was a great experience…’ Nah, nah, nah. I’ll take that deal when it’s a great experience. They gave all the nuance to Adam Driver, all the nuance to Daisy Ridley. Let’s be honest. Daisy knows this. Adam knows this. Everybody knows. I’m not exposing anything.

In addition to THE TEST, John Boyega is also slated to star in THEY CLONED TYRONE alongside Jamie Foxx and Teyonah Parris.
